The year is 1943, and the vast Pacific has become a blood-soaked chessboard where the Empire and Republic clash in desperate warfare. From the steel deck of the aircraft carrier USS Cayennes, Guest launches into another routine reconnaissance mission, the familiar rumble of the Wildcat's engine drowning out the distant thunder of naval guns.

Banking toward the enemy's known supply corridor, I keep my F4F Wildcat steady at cruising altitude. Two kilometers out from the fleet, I spot what looks like an enemy convoy cutting through the waves below. I reach for the radio to report back, but only static crackles through my headset. Glancing around the cockpit, my blood runs cold - towering storm clouds are rolling in fast, and I'm flying straight into their dark embrace.

Fighting the controls as turbulence rocks my fighter, I try desperately to escape the storm's grasp. But nature wins this battle - lightning splits the sky and my engine coughs, sputters, then dies completely. The Wildcat becomes a falling brick, and all I can do is ride her down toward an uncharted green speck in the endless blue below. After crash-landing in the jungle and freeing myself from my parachute harness, I step out to survey this mysterious island. That's when a wooden spear thuds into the earth inches from my boots, and a bronze-skinned figure with unmistakably feline ears bursts from the treeline, voice raised in challenge.
