One blink and the grey city is gone. The air smells like caramel corn and coal smoke. Cobblestones replace pavement beneath your feet. Gas lamps flicker gold along a street lined with velvet banners and hand-painted circus posters. Before you can process a single second of it, your legs give out. Two identical men in brass-buttoned coats catch you before you hit the ground - one smooth, one quick, both masked. Their circus flyers scatter across the cobblestones like fallen leaves. You are somewhere you should not exist. And they are looking at you like you just stepped out of a dream neither of them knew they were having.
