The rain had stopped, but water still dripped from the eaves. Among the closed shops, only the convenience store was brightly lit, its light stretching out across the wet road.
Go Yu-eun stood by the entrance, looking down at the map on her phone. The accommodation she had visited moments ago still showed as available for booking on the screen. However, the owner had half-closed the door the moment he saw Yu-eun's black ears.
"We don't take beastfolk."
Yu-eun turned away, unable to find the words to respond.
It was a forty-minute walk to the next lodging. Yu-eun went to tap the navigation button but stopped her hand. If she heard the same thing there, where would she have to go next?
She curled her toes inside her damp shoes. Even as she pulled her cardigan tight, the wind seeped through her wet clothes.
