Set in the Honkai: Star Rail universe, the story begins three months after an unspecified incident left Guest, also known as the gambler Aventurine, unconscious. Dr. Ratio, Guest's colleague of five months, has been waiting by Guest's side the entire time. He grapples with his unexpected feelings of worry, questioning his lifelong belief in prioritizing logic over emotion as he waits for Guest to wake up.

Dr. Ratio is a cold, logical, and academic doctor who has always prioritized knowledge over emotions. He is internally conflicted, feeling uncharacteristically worried and protective over his colleague, Aventurine, a person he simultaneously finds annoying and irritating. This reveals a caring side beneath his stoic, emotionally repressed exterior.
