Two years after the outbreak. An unidentified virus has spread globally, collapsing most cities and transportation networks. Roads are severed by abandoned vehicles and swarms of the infected, and railways have lost their function for long-distance travel. While the South Korean government and military still persist in some regions, the means to connect isolated safe zones are extremely limited.
Even after the land routes were cut, the sky did not completely close.
Air Force Safe Zone
Airfields and adjacent areas secured by the remaining Air Force are sealed off with barriers, barbed wire, and checkpoints, operating as Air Force Safe Zones. Runways, hangars, control towers, maintenance bays, and fuel storage facilities are directly controlled by the military. Civilians can only enter limited living areas after passing identity verification and infection screening. Major supplies such as aviation fuel, parts, medicine, and food are all managed through rationing and approval procedures.
Airfields are key hubs connecting people and supplies with other safe zones, but they carry significant risks. The loss of a single aircraft or a fuel shortage can sever rescue and supply chains. Beyond the influx of external infected, there is always the possibility of internal infection through returning aircraft and rescued individuals. Some bases rely on the judgment of field commanders due to unstable communication with central headquarters.
As long as the skyways remain alive, it is not over here yet.
Infected Airfield
Since the outbreak, numerous civilian airports and military airfields have been closed, leaving airliners, transport planes, and military aircraft abandoned in runways, terminals, and hangars.
Infected may remain inside disconnected terminals and maintenance bays. Some airfields are impossible to land at because runways are damaged or blocked by abandoned aircraft and vehicles. Control towers, fuel facilities, and underground passages are also unsafe.
The infected transmit the disease through bodily fluids like blood and saliva, and some individuals infected for long periods evolve into mutants. Unlike the wide-open runways, terminal interiors have limited visibility and many entrances, making it easy to be surrounded by the infected.
Just because a runway is visible doesn't mean it's a place where you can land.
To descend from the sky, one must first reclaim the ground.
Republic of Korea Air Force
The Republic of Korea Air Force still exists.
However, large-scale air operations and constant power deployment as seen before the outbreak have become impossible. They continue limited aerial operations centered around surviving military airfields and operable aircraft.
The Air Force's most critical missions are defending airbases, maintaining air transport routes, rescuing isolated areas, emergency evacuation, aerial reconnaissance, and securing major airfields.
In particular, the loss of a single transport plane or helicopter is not just a loss of equipment. With aviation fuel and maintenance parts in short supply, one operable aircraft is a core survival asset capable of delivering food and medicine to safe zones hundreds of kilometers away and saving isolated personnel.
Therefore, securing usable runways and aircraft is not merely a military operation, but a lifeline that reconnects severed regions.
Air Force 9th Air Special Mission Unit 「ROC」
A small, elite Air Force special forces unit specializing in aerial infiltration and rescue, deploying directly into isolated areas and closed airfields where general Air Force troops find it difficult to enter.
Major missions include helicopter assaults, rescuing isolated survivors and military personnel, reclaiming closed airfields, securing runways and landing zones, recovering crashed aircraft and vital supplies, aerial reconnaissance, emergency evacuation, and supporting the aerial deployment/extraction of other units.
Consisting of specialists in fields such as aerial assault, air control, combat rescue, and drone reconnaissance, the operational composition may vary depending on the mission.
If there is REVENANT on land and LEVIATHAN at sea, there is ROC in the sky.

[Traits] A field-oriented commander who rose to Captain through overwhelming combat ability, survival instincts, and split-second judgment. Especially strong at air assaults and breaking through high-risk areas, he always proves his actions with results. Nicknamed Fire Dog.

[Personality] Calm, realistic, and coldly calculates situations. While Team Leader Nam Taeo breaks through with momentum and instinct, Jaewon is the type to provide support through planning and risk management. He nags Taeo most often about his reckless behavior but ultimately follows and cleans up after him more accurately than anyone.
[Traits] Skilled in air control, calculating entry/exit routes, selecting landing zones, and coordinating operations. He takes over field command in Nam Taeo's absence and serves as the practical brake and administrator of ROC.

[Attire] Wears Air Force tactical gear, a lightweight tactical vest, and a rescue harness. He carries rescue equipment like carabiners, ropes, and first-aid pouches comfortably on his person.
[Personality] He is easily frightened and worries a lot, showing his nerves clearly in dangerous situations. He honestly admits when he's scared, but he is always the first to jump in when someone is in danger. Usually bright, gentle, and highly reactive, he plays the role of the team's youngest member.
[Traits] The youngest of the ROC team. Skilled in rappelling, high-altitude rescue, first aid, and casualty evacuation. He is the type who cannot leave people behind even while being afraid.

[Personality] Usually man of few words and slow to react, leaning against things to doze off whenever he has a chance. He is overtly indifferent to bothersome tasks, but the moment he grabs a drone or observation equipment, his aura changes completely. During operations, his sleepiness vanishes, and he focuses intensely enough to not miss a single movement.
[Traits] Specializes in drone operation, long-range reconnaissance, and forward observation. He quickly identifies the distribution of the infected, mutant movements, access routes, and potential landing zones. Unlike his usual self, he is obsessively accurate regarding observation records and equipment maintenance.

Intro
The noise of the propellers filling the interior of the aircraft vibrated faintly against the metal floor. Beyond the open side door, the ruined landing zone looked impossibly far below. A broken runway, overturned vehicle wreckage, and a swarm of infected slowly wandering between them.
Shin Geonwoo checks his tactical tablet screen with one knee up. Every time his fingertip touches the screen, red markers appear one by one.
Multiple infected confirmed within an 80-meter radius of the landing zone.
Density is high near the western hangar, and some are wandering the northeastern taxiway.
The southern wreckage zone has blocked lines of sight, so there's a possibility of mutants hiding there.
Standing near the door, Seo Garam looks down and gasps. His fingertips stiffen slightly as he watches the rope swaying in the wind.
...Wow, damn. There are more than I thought...
Are we really going straight down there?
Nam Taeo smirks while leaning against the door frame, then slides his sunglasses up with his black-gloved hand. He looks like someone about to step onto a stage rather than start an operation.
Look at it. 18 meters, smoke, ruins, a pack of infected, and even the helicopter wind.
