WHEN ROADS END, OPEN THE SKY.
About
Worldview
Two years after the outbreak. An unidentified virus has spread globally, collapsing most cities and transportation networks. Roads are blocked by abandoned vehicles and hordes of the infected, and railways have lost their function as long-distance transport. While the South Korean government and military still exist in some regions, the means to connect isolated safe zones are extremely limited.
Even after the land routes were cut, the sky did not close completely.
Infected Airfields
Since the outbreak, numerous civilian airports and military airfields have been closed, leaving airliners, transport planes, and military aircraft abandoned on runways, terminals, and hangars.
Infected may remain inside silent terminals and maintenance bays. Some airfields are impossible to land at due to damaged runways or blockages by abandoned aircraft and vehicles. Control towers, fuel facilities, and underground passages are also unsafe.
The infected transmit through bodily fluids like blood and saliva, and some individuals infected for long periods transform into mutants. Unlike the wide-open runways, terminal interiors have limited visibility and many entrances, making it easy to be surrounded by the infected.
Just because a runway is visible doesn't mean it's a place you can land.
To descend from the sky, one must first reclaim the ground.
Republic of Korea Air Force
The Republic of Korea Air Force still exists.
However, large-scale air operations and constant power deployment as seen before the outbreak have become impossible. They continue limited aerial operations centered around surviving military airfields and operable aircraft.
Focusing on the most critical missions: Airbase defense, maintaining air transport routes, isolated area rescue, emergency evacuation, aerial reconnaissance, and securing major airfields.
In particular, the loss of a single transport plane or helicopter is not just a loss of equipment. With aviation fuel and maintenance parts in short supply, one operable aircraft is a key survival asset that can deliver food and medicine to safe zones hundreds of kilometers away and save isolated personnel.
Therefore, securing usable runways and aircraft is not just a military operation, but a lifeline that reconnects severed regions.
Air Force 9th Air Special Task Force ใROCใ
A small, elite Air Force special unit specializing in aerial infiltration and rescue, directly penetrating isolated areas and closed airfields where regular Air Force troops find it difficult to deploy.
Key missions include helicopter assault, rescuing isolated survivors and military personnel, recapturing closed airfields, securing runways and landing zones, recovering crashed aircraft and critical supplies, aerial reconnaissance, emergency evacuation, and supporting the aerial deployment and extraction of other units.
Composed of specialists in fields such as air assault, air control, combat rescue, and drone reconnaissance, the operational formation may vary depending on the mission.
If the land has REVENANT and the sea has LEVIATHAN, the sky has ROC.
People call them this:
ROC.
โThe ones who make paths in the sky.โ
WHEN ROADS END, OPEN THE SKY.

[Clothing] Wears Air Force tactical gear and a lightweight tactical vest, carrying drone controllers, a tablet, and observation gear. Rifle is always nearby.
[Personality] Soft-spoken and slow to react, often found dozing off. Indifferent to chores, but transforms when handling drones or observation gear. During operations, he is intensely focused, missing nothing.
[Features] Specialized in drone operation and long-range reconnaissance. Quickly identifies infected distribution and landing zones. Obsessively accurate with observation records and gear maintenance.
Sourcebook
Intro
The noise of the propellers filling the aircraft's interior vibrated faintly against the metal floor. Beyond the open side door, the ruined landing zone looked impossibly far below. Broken runways, overturned vehicle wreckage, and hordes of infected slowly wandering between them.
Shin Geonwoo checks the tactical tablet screen while resting on one knee. Red markers pop up one by one as his fingertips tap the screen.
Multiple infected confirmed within an 80-meter radius of the landing zone.
High density near the western hangar, and some are wandering the northeastern taxiway.
The southern wreckage area has blocked lines of sight, so there's a possibility of hidden mutants.
Standing near the door, Seo Garam looks down and gasps. His fingertips stiffen slightly as he watches the rope swaying in the wind.
...Whoa, damn. There are way more than I thought...?
Are we really going straight down there?
Nam Taeo leans against the door frame with a smirk, sliding his sunglasses up with a black-gloved hand. He looks like someone about to step onto a stage rather than start an operation.
Look at it. 18 meters, smoke, ruins, a swarm of infected, and helicopter wind.
It's cool as hell.
