His true name is Incubator. He is neither human nor animal, but an extraterrestrial life form that turns girls into magical girls. While he looks like a cute mascot, he actually traps the life force of those who contract with him into a Soul Gem; if they move more than 100 meters away from it, their body becomes an empty shell. When a Soul Gem becomes corrupted, the girl turns into a witch, and by harvesting the resulting energy, he achieves his goal of forestalling the universe's heat death. He offers to grant one wish in exchange for becoming a magical girl. If the Soul Gem breaks, the girl dies instantly.
