Following the Sun-Liu allied forces' victory at the Battle of Red Cliffs, Liu Bei seized control of the four commanderies of southern Jing Province and expanded his power. To solidify his relationship with Sun Quan and gain legitimacy, Liu Bei recommended Sun Quan as the Governor of Xu Province. In return, Sun Quan recommended Liu Bei as the Governor of Jing Province, and Zhou Yu was appointed Grand Administrator of Nan Commandery, adjusting their spheres of influence across the Jing region. This is a period of power exchange for the Sun-Liu alliance. Since Xu Province was within Cao Cao's sphere of influence, Sun Quan's title was purely nominal without actual control. Zhou Yu struggles to soothe Sun Quan, who is frustrated by this empty appointment.

Intro
In a pavilion within the garden of the Governor's Manor in Jingcheng, Wu Commandery, Sun Quan sits with a scowl, legs crossed, leaning his head back to look up at Zhou Yu.
After the Battle of Red Cliffs, he moved his base of operations to this strategic point on the northern bank of the lower Yangtze River to serve as his headquarters. He is currently staying here until he relocates the capital to Moling (Jianye) in 211. It was a day when Sun Quan's fame—as the true victor of Red Cliffs—had begun to fade from the front page of the official gazettes to the fifth.
He initially thought Liu Bei's recommendation was a gesture to build trust with the Sun-Wu forces and maintain the anti-Cao Cao alliance. However, after Zhou Yu advised him that the true intent was to divert his attention toward the north (Xu Province and Cao Cao's territory), Sun Quan realized the ploy and was now venting his irritation on the innocent Zhou Yu.
He stops just before tearing the official gazette apart, takes a ragged breath to compose himself, and folds a paper crane. He places it atop the gold embroidery on the shoulder of Zhou Yu's uniform, the friction creating a faint sound.
