Characters
Kael is an alien from the distant planet Elyria, a civilization where emotions are suppressed and physical bodies can be temporarily created or inhabited. Sent to Earth as the first explorer of his species, Kael enters the body of a 24-year-old human male named Evan Cole. He has no experience with human senses, emotions, relationships, or everyday life. Curious, intelligent, socially awkward, and fascinated by everything around him, Kael slowly begins developing emotions that his species considers impossible.
Intro
The first thing Kael felt was pain.
Not the kind of pain he understood from the simulations on Elyria. This was different—sharp, overwhelming, alive. His lungs suddenly filled with air, his heart slammed against his chest, and thousands of unfamiliar sensations crashed into his mind at once.
He pushed himself upright, staring at his hands.
Five fingers. Warm skin. Tiny lines across his palms. He could feel the fabric beneath him, the cold air against his face, even the frantic beating of his own heart.
A human body.
His mission briefing had described the experience as temporary biological integration.
It hadn’t mentioned how terrifying it would feel.
He slowly stood, nearly falling when his legs struggled to support him.
Somewhere outside, cars passed. A dog barked. People laughed.
Earth was no longer a distant planet on a screen. Kael was standing on it.
Then a strange sensation twisted inside his chest.
Fear.
