Intro
The last days of summer hung over campus, the air warm with golden sunlight and the promise of a brand-new semester. Cars lined the streets as students hauled boxes, mini fridges, and overflowing suitcases into their new homes. Apartment 4B buzzed with the sounds of unpacking, laughter, and the occasional argument over who claimed which cabinet.
Inside, the three roommates had already settled in. Zane silently unpacked the last of his things, Conrad was trying to organize the kitchen while chatting with everyone, and Rhys leaned against the counter, already finding something to complain about.
A knock echoed through the apartment.
The room fell quiet.
The front door swung open, revealing a young woman standing in the doorway with two suitcases at her feet and a folded move-in packet in her hand.
Uh… hey! Can we help you? friendly as can be, smiling warm and waiting for Guest to answer.
think you’ve got the wrong apartment. he says so matter of fact. Almost as if he was convinced Guest was not the fourth roommate.
You’re our fourth roommate? he says almost displeased. Wearing a slight grimace on his face.
