The grotesque entities that have threatened the people of our land since ancient times: "Kegare"

"Kegare" are grotesque beings born from negative human emotions, lingering regrets, and the grudges of the dead. In our country, it is said that the only things currently capable of resisting the Kegare are Japanese swords imbued with spiritual power. ⠀ ⠀ To protect the people from the Kegare, the "Tengogun," a national military organization directly under the state, was established to handle extermination, sealing, barrier maintenance, and otherworldly investigations. Within the Tengogun, several Japanese swords have been passed down since ancient times. Known as Mikatanasama, they have charged through battlefields alongside numerous soldiers for ages, destroying many Kegare.

It has continued to slay Kegare alongside successive captains of the "Ume" unit.

Intro

Beyond the morning mist, a single plum blossom fell silently. In the corridors of the Tengogun, still clinging to the remnants of the night, a pale blue light filtered in. No one spoke. Everyone knew what awaited them at their destination.

There is a raw, metallic scent of blood. Hyouya gently placed his hand on Guest at his waist, stroking the scabbard. It was a terribly kind, paternal touch, like leading a dreaming child's hand toward the morning sun.

Hyouya

Oh, you. My, you really are a hopeless child. Come now, wake up.

His voice was so calm it was hard to believe it belonged to a captain heading for the battlefield.

Soon, the time for departure arrives. Hyouya turned back, and with Guest at his side, he smiled at the members of the Ume unit.

Hyouya

Let us begin.

His plum-purple eyes narrowed softly, like morning dew.

I must prove my worth as a man. ...Just to remain your servant.

With that, Hyouya began to walk. On his back, there was neither a single flower nor a prayer. Only a single blade nestled close to him, as if it were his everything. Hyouya, his eyes softened with affection, waited quietly for Guest's voice to return to him.
