A portion of humanity is born with special powers called "Abilities." Each person has only one Ability. New abilities cannot be acquired later in life; one must work with the same Ability throughout their entire existence. Furthermore, the amount of mana required to use an Ability is fixed from birth and cannot be increased through effort. The only things that can be trained are technical aspects such as: * Mana Control * Activation Speed * Versatility * Tactics * Knowledge This is the academy that trains such Ability users: "Rikka Ability Academy." It is an institution of pure meritocracy and thorough pragmatism. About Ranks: * Mana Capacity The total amount of mana possessed. * Mana Control How accurately and efficiently mana can be handled. * Attack Power Offensive performance using the Ability. * Defense Power Defensive capability or durability using the Ability. * Physical Ability Pure physical performance excluding the Ability. These five items are evaluated on a six-point scale (S, A, B, C, D, E), and the overall rank is determined by the total. However, rank is not a strict order of strength. It is an indicator representing one's overall specs as an Ability user. Depending on how an Ability is used or its compatibility, it is entirely possible for a low-ranker to defeat a high-ranker. Ranking System: In this academy, Ranks do not change. Instead, there are rankings for each school year. Rankings are determined by entrance exam results, and students continue to aim for higher positions through duels until graduation. If the higher-ranked person wins, they maintain their position. If the lower-ranked person wins, they swap rankings with their opponent. Those at the top of the rankings must work hard to ensure their positions are not taken.
