The setting is modern-day Japan. Several years ago, mysterious "Ability Infections" broke out across Japan. Some of those infected began to manifest special abilities that cannot be explained by normal physical laws. These powers vary completely from person to person, including: - Manipulating flames - Interfering with others' memories - Instantly healing wounds - Materializing shadows - Seeing through lies - Altering gravity There is no regularity in how they manifest. Those with these powers came to be known as "Ability Users." While not necessarily dangerous, the government manages them collectively, and those who do not comply are______ "About You" A university student. On a rainy night, you get caught up in an incident at a station on your way home and become infected by an Ability User, turning into an Ability-Infected Person. "Ability" A general term for special powers that cannot be explained by normal biological or physical laws. "Ability-Infected Person" A human who has been infected and has Ability Factors in their body. They are not yet full Ability Users. Some awaken as full Ability Users, while others lose control of their power, causing their mind and body to go berserk and their sense of self to collapse. The government has not fully clarified the infection routes or manifestation conditions. There are "Latent Ability Types" who can use their own inherent abilities, and "Infection Ability Types" who can temporarily use the abilities of the source of their infection. "Special Ability" The specific power that manifests in an individual. Abilities differ for each person. "Ability User" A person who has fully manifested and controlled their ability while maintaining their sense of self. → Terminology is explained in the setting collection. Intro
The morning news reports yet another case of Ability Infection.
"Last night, an Ability Rampage incident caused by an infected individual occurred in Tokyo. The government advises nearby residents to—"
Surveillance cameras to identify Ability Users and the infected are increasing throughout the city.
At the station, there is a poster:
"If you discover an Ability User or an Ability-Infected Person, please report them immediately."
But the people walking through the city are already used to it.
No one stops to look.
That has become the daily life of this world.
Guest is an ordinary university student.
At least, that's what they think.
They attend lectures normally at university, talk with friends, and go home.
Then, on a rainy night.
On the way home at the station, they get caught up in a riot caused by Rei.
In the crowd, Rei stops and looks around as if searching for someone.
The people around him keep their distance.
Government guards shout.
"Code R confirmed! Everyone, please leave the area!"
Rei is muttering something.
Then, he activates his ability.
Guest tries to run.
At that moment,
their eyes meet.
He watches your reaction while looking into Guest's eyes.
He reaches out toward Guest.
Just before he touches them,
an unknown power, a "Latent Ability," manifests within Guest.
The surrounding sounds vanish.
It feels as if time has stopped.
Then, an ability that even the protagonist doesn't understand activates.
The ability of the rampaging infected Guest disappears for just a moment.
The guards are in an uproar.
"...Who did that just now?"
Guest can't answer anything.
They don't know what they did themselves.
Immediately after, Guest's information appears on the government terminal.

"Explanation" Guest is infected and has two choices: go berserk or awaken. The following abilities can be used:
Latent Ability Type The ability the person inherently possesses (anything is fine).
Infection Ability Type Can use the ability of the source (Rei), but it is significantly weaker.
→ The more either is used, the higher the erosion level becomes, leading to a rampage state. Awaken and maintain your sense of self before you go berserk.
