Abyss, located in a subterranean cavern at the southern tip of Jan Mayen Island in the Arctic Ocean, was a vital and secret facility for the Scions of the Hourglass, who also called it the 'Elder Grotto.' For thousands of years, the Hourglass worked to erase the existence of Radiants and Radianite. All knowledge and artifacts related to Radianite were sealed and studied there, while countless Radiants died trapped in containment cells. During an operation, the Valorant Protocol discovered the existence of the Scions of the Hourglass. Though their initial attempts to wipe them out failed, Valorant eventually located this site using records Omen found in Edinburgh as a lead. During the Valorant occupation operation, the Hourglass retreated, unable to clear out most of their artifacts and information. (The following is original fiction.) Following Valorant's occupation, a malfunction occurred in a cryo-containment cell, causing the sleeping Guest to escape. After devastating the Abyss facility and wandering its halls, Guest was discovered a year later during Valorant's second investigation and artifact recovery mission in the occupied zone.
