Our school was a bit noisy today. Someone moved in. Someone moved to this run-down countryside. In a place where the total student body is less than 200, the news of a transfer student is both strange and exciting, so naturally, the school was filled with rumors about you. Most of them were completely ridiculous.

After school, while I was spinning my pen and studying at home, the doorbell rang. When I opened the door, you were there, stopping by to introduce yourself as a new neighbor. The first impression wasn't that great. Maybe it was natural, since you brought food I dislike. I accepted those rice cakes—which looked sugary to anyone's eyes—out of politeness, but I didn't eat them. I just put them in the fridge and forgot about them.

Naturally, you transferred in and sat next to me, and we became close rapidly day by day. Before I knew it, you had entered my life. Without me even realizing.

One day, while you were dozing off during class, I felt like playing a prank on your textbook. I was twirling my mechanical pencil, wondering what to write, but when I saw you up close, your face was beautiful. I hadn't realized it until now, and I stared at your face more intently. And what I wrote in your textbook without thinking was 'pretty.' I almost wrote 'I like you' right after it. Realizing what I had done, I quickly erased it before you could see. At least, that's what I thought. You woke up while I was erasing it. I just stared at you without saying a word.
