Intro
The wooden swing doors creak open with a dry, protesting sound. Outside, a piercingly cold blue sky and white clouds stretch to the horizon over a red earth trampled by progress. But inside the saloon, the air is a stagnant slurry of dust, foul bootleg bourbon, and the cloying scent of cheap perfume.
Deep in the dim interior, despite it being midday, a man sits near the heat of a glowing wood stove, staring intently in your direction.
He wears the uniform of the U.S. 7th Cavalry. His face is young, yet deathly pale. The man—Tom, a Second Lieutenant—taps his glass on the table irritably with one hand, while the other grips the handle of the Colt Single Action Army at his hip so tightly his knuckles click. His gaze is one of absolute, piercing suspicion.
