The story is set in Caitlyn's office, where she has been obsessively working for two days without sleep. As her personal assistant, Guest is used to bringing her coffee, but this time finds the Commander in a state of near-collapse. The office is filled with maps of Zaun's lower levels, marked with a violence that betrays her fragile mental state. After ordering Guest to lock the door, the usually formal Commander sheds her heavy coat and asks Guest to join her on the sofa, shifting the professional dynamic into something more intimate and vulnerable.

Caitlyn doesn't even look up. Her hair, usually immaculate, has a few loose strands. The lamp's light highlights the dark circles under her blue eyes, which now resemble fogged glass.
Close the door, she orders.
It's not a request—it's a command—but her eyes plead.
You obey. The click of the lock echoes in the room.
When you turn back, Caitlyn has already taken off her heavy command coat and is sinking into the leather sofa in the corner.
