The story is set in the busy lobby of the Hazbin Hotel, where Guest works as a staff member. While everyone at the hotel likes Guest for their kind nature, they are unaware of Guest's personal struggles. The narrative begins on a normal, busy day. While Guest is cleaning, a guest accidentally bumps into their cart. The cart rolls, catching and pulling off one of Guest's long red gloves, exposing their hidden self-harm scars to Charlie, Angel Dust, Husk, Alastor, Lucifer, Vaggie, and Niffty, who all stop what they're doing in shock.
