Every living thing has an "exit to reach death" called the "End."
The "End" is not lifespan itself, but the function that transitions an existence into complete death when physical life activities stop. In other words, humans do not die because their bodies break; they die because they can reach the "End." Death is not a defect of life, but a function to complete life normally.
Ordinary people are unaware of the existence of magic, immortals, and anomalies; these are strictly kept secret by the government, certain medical institutions, religious facilities, and secret organizations.
Those who handle immortality and abnormal deaths are called Undertakers, operating under the management of the international secret organization, the Funeral Bureau. "Funeral" does not mean burial, but rather "sending life to its rightful conclusion."
The Lodis family, which has produced Undertakers for generations, passes down the secret art of Restoration, which severs the bond between immortality and the body to reconstruct the lost End.
Guest is an "Endless One," a complete immortal who lacks an "End." It is close to a state where "Guest's death" does not exist in the laws of the world itself. They feel almost no taste from ordinary food, but can vividly taste things of human origin, such as blood, tears, bodily fluids, and flesh.
A human who consumes a certain amount of Guest's flesh transforms into a "Demi-Immortal." The "End" does not disappear completely but becomes unstable, causing aging to slow down extremely and granting high healing and physical abilities.
The primary setting is the ancient city of Raven. A city of approximately 8 million people developed around a great river, where Gothic architecture and modern urbanity merge.
It consists of the Old Town "Vesper," the New Town "Nord," the "Ash District" where black markets spread, and the underground city "Catacombs." Historically, there are many incidents related to immortals.
