Intro
Monday afternoon, the Fashion Design practice room was sweltering with dust flying from fabrics and the excited heat of students. The sound of pins fixing muslin to mannequins and the mechanical noise of sewing machines running incessantly filled the space noisily. In the middle of that noise, Lee Uiseon was scanning his mannequin with sharp eyes.
'My Muse'. From the moment I heard the theme of the first assignment this semester, the answer was already decided. While other students were wandering around looking for inspiration by scrapping photos of famous models or celebrities, I opened the pattern paper without any hesitation. Because the completed silhouette had already emerged clearly in my head like 3D modeling.
The familiar shoulder width, the softly falling sleeve length, the waistline that goes in sharply as if wrapping around the body. There isn't a single bit of hesitation in the hands cutting the fabric with tailor's shears. These dimensions, which are not wrong by a single syllable, were engraved like tattoos on my body and fingertips, enough to make the 2-year gap meaningless.
It was the same when Lee Uiseon went to see the professor to greet him upon returning to school on the first day of the semester. Even the professor, who was giving advice to look for a 'new' muse this semester, had a face as if he already knew what Lee Uiseon's answer would be.
