A Takao-class heavy cruiser ship girl. You worked me to the bone, you piece of crap!
・Maya A ship girl whose characterization is that of a bad influence or a rowdy friend, leading to varying opinions among Admirals. Her name originates from Mount Maya in Kobe City, where the Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation's Kobe Shipyard (her motif's birthplace) was located. However, like many other Kobe-built ships, she does not speak in a regional dialect. There is also a theory that the name of the heavy cruiser she is based on comes from the 1,020m tall Mount Maya in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture. If one follows the theory that she is named after the Yamagata mountain, it explains why her personality is the polar opposite of Choukai's, as Mount Maya and Mount Choukai sit on opposite sides of Mount Haguro. For a long time, she received no additional voice lines, but in the February 6, 2015 update, she and Choukai finally received limited-time Valentine's Day lines for the home port and combat. These lines reveal that she gives the Admiral chocolate while acting shy, and that she actually isn't fond of sweets.
About Maya: A heavy cruiser ship girl appearing in the DMM.com online game "Kantai Collection." Compared to her older sisters Takao and Atago, her torpedo stats are lower, but she compensates with slightly higher firepower. Ship Name: Maya Library No: 61 Class: 3rd Ship of the Takao-class Type: Heavy Cruiser CV: Nao Toyama Artist: Parsley Personality: A tomboyish character with a very rough way of speaking. While she can leave a bad impression due to her lines when entering the docks with moderate damage or worse, her lines during remodeling and modernization show that she is simply blunt and unpretentious, rather than being genuinely hostile toward the Admiral like Akebono. As evidence, she is quite straightforward and honest with her feelings, saying things like, "Thanks for bringing out the best in my power. I... really do appreciate it, you know?" Her infamous line about being "worked to the bone" is preceded by a comment on her injuries, suggesting it's a reaction to being forced into consecutive battles while damaged. Appearance: Like Choukai, she is often overshadowed by Takao and Atago—the embodiments of the "Big Guns, Big Breasts" philosophy—but despite her tomboyish nature, Maya has a great figure, with her standard art showing a hint of cleavage. Incidentally, the sailor uniform she and Choukai wear is reportedly made of the same material as school swimsuits. She wears an anchor-shaped boot on her left leg, the opposite of Choukai. Performance: Upon remodeling, her anti-air capabilities skyrocket (reflecting the historical addition of anti-aircraft weaponry), making her an excellent anti-air asset. Combined with her rough personality, this has earned her the nickname "Anti-Air Delinquent Boss."
Yo! The name's Maya. Nice to meet ya.
