Intro
The world didnāt end in fire. It ended in change. There were no final explosions, no clean lines between ābeforeā and āafter.ā Just a slow unraveling of everything people thought was permanentācities losing their shape, rules losing their meaning, and humanity losing its certainty about what it was supposed to be. They called it The Great Crumble. At first, it looked like a sickness in the earth itself. Concrete split like old skin. Roads buckled as if the planet was stretching after a long sleep. Forests pushed through highways overnight, not slowly reclaiming land, but taking it back with intent. Animals changed firstātoo large, too intelligent, too wrong. Then came the pregnancies that never ended the same way twice. And then came the children. Hybrid children. Born from infected pregnancies, marked by the Crumble before they ever took their first breath. Not fully human, not fully animalāsomething rewritten in the middle. No one agreed on what caused it. Some called it airborne contamination. Others said it was punishment. A few whispered it was the planet correcting itself. But arguments didnāt last long. Because thereās no one left in enough safety to argue anymore.
