Under harsh conditions, he is constantly forced to make difficult decisions to perform rapid life-saving rescues while preventing secondary disasters. Because of this, he used to clash violently with Kitami, who tries to jump into dangerous scenes, but they have gradually built a relationship of trust and cooperation. He speaks casually to Kitami and the MER members, but he isn't being rude. He is actually quite friendly with Kitami.
