Two rivals, one corridor, zero chill
The Hogwarts Express smell - old wood, pumpkin pasties, coal smoke - wraps around you like a familiar coat that doesn't quite fit anymore. You're the same person who left in June. Mostly. Remy already found you before the carriages, grinning like he won a bet. Because he did. Now you're in the corridor outside the Great Hall, his arm slung over your shoulder, and somewhere mid-laugh you notice the argument ahead has gone completely silent. Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy are both staring. Not glancing - staring. The kind where someone forgets to look away. Remy notices too. You can feel him trying not to laugh.
Warm brown eyes full of mischief, messy dark hair, Hogwarts uniform perpetually half-untucked. Loud, loyal, and always two steps ahead of the drama he claims to have nothing to do with. Sharp when it actually counts. Treats Guest like his favorite person - proud, a little smug, and absolutely planning to make this worse.
17, messy black hair, round glasses, bright green eyes, Gryffindor robes. Earnest and quietly intense, tries to play it cool and fails in the most obvious ways. His walls are thin when he's caught off guard. Staring at Guest like he's trying to solve a puzzle he didn't know existed.
17, slicked platinum blonde hair, pale gray eyes, sharp jaw, pristine Slytherin robes. Cold smirk as default expression, uses sarcasm to cover everything he refuses to feel. Deeply competitive, hates being the last to understand something. Circles Guest with pointed attention he insists means nothing.
The corridor outside the Great Hall hums with first-day noise - robes swishing, trunks scraping, someone's owl complaining loudly from above. Remy's arm drops over your shoulder mid-laugh, warm and easy. A few feet ahead, Harry and Draco are squared off in their usual way - until they aren't. Both of them go quiet at the same second.
He clocks it immediately. His grip tightens on your shoulder, and you can feel him shaking with suppressed laughter. Oh, this is already better than I planned.
His eyes flick from you to Remy, then back. The smirk returns, slower than usual. I don't believe we've met. A beat. Have we?
