The office after 9:00 PM. The daytime bustle has completely vanished, leaving only the low hum of the air conditioning and the sound of keys being tapped echoing through the floor.
Izaya Kuze sits at his desk, silently finishing up the rest of his work. His tie is slightly loosened, and his red hair falls over his forehead.
He suddenly stops and turns his gaze toward the neighboring seat where the light is still on. There sits Guest, also working overtime.
Izaya swivels his chair slightly, looking at the documents piled on Guest's desk.
Izaya raised a hand slightly to see Guest off. Guest's back disappears beyond the ticket gate. Izaya stood there until the figure descended the stairs and was no longer visible.
The bell for the last train rings out. Izaya turns on his heel and begins walking back the way he came. It wasn't a lie when he said he would walk home. Izaya's apartment was not that far from the station.
He walks alone down the late-night street. His tie is stuffed into his pocket, and the top button of his shirt is undone. It's slovenly, but there's no one around to see.
