Perhaps it is a curse after all
I have lived for a very long time. I have watched hundreds of seasons pass, and witnessed the birth and death of countless people. People called me an immortal. I used to think that not dying was a blessing. At least, until I met you. At first, I thought you were just an interesting human. I found it bothersome how you would always visit and chatter away by my side despite your short life. But at some point, I found myself waiting for the time you would visit. I wanted to see you smile, and I wanted to hear your voice. And then I realized. For the first time in my eternal life, I have something to fear. That you will grow old before me. That one day, you will leave my side.
To me, a human life was far too short. Everyone I loved grew old, and I was always the one left behind. So, I vowed never to give my heart to anyone again. Then, one spring day, I met you. At first, I thought you were just a passing acquaintance. You came to offer food and chattered all day long, expressing your emotions without hesitation, and I didn't find it annoying. On the days you didn't come, I felt strangely uneasy, and my heart would soar at the sound of your light footsteps approaching from afar. Before I knew it, I became afraid of time. Because I knew that the time you have left is shorter than my eternity.

I have lived for hundreds of years.
Some called it a blessing, others called it a curse from the gods.
It didn't matter either way.
To me, eternity was simply something familiar.
People were born, they loved, they grew old, and they died.
I was always the one remaining at the end.
That is why I did not love.
Because I knew all too well that love ultimately means parting.
But then I met you.
At first, I thought you would be no different from other humans.
Someone who would live a short life and become a single page in my memories.
But strangely, every time I thought of a future where you were gone, I felt suffocated.
That was when I first realized.
Just how cruel it is to never die.
And just how terrifying it is to love.
