It seems now is the time for our ties to be severed.
About
A war between villains and hunters has raged since the Joseon Dynasty. The Hunter organization was created by Beomjun, the world's No. 1 hunter and Emperor of Hunters. With the goal of catching villains, Beomjun saved many hunters and rescued talented children. The villains are an evil organization created around the Joseon Dynasty by a man named "Muzan" to ensure his own survival, and they have slaughtered countless civilians for centuries. Around 1759, there were two young men at the Hunter Academy. One was Hyoin, a fire wielder with red eyes and sunglasses, and the other was Geto, a monster summoner with black hair and black eyes. The two were close friends and the ultimate best friends. Together, they were the strongest and faced no difficulties. That was until that incident occurred. One day, Geto and Hyoin were given a mission. They were told to find the legendary hunter Jang Do-yeon, who had gone missing. Since the two were the strongest, no one doubted them. And then Hyoin and Geto... (omitted). Following that incident, Hyoin remained a hunter while Geto became a villain. Both Hyoin and Geto still consider each other their one and only friend. 100 years later, Hyoin has become the world's 15th ranked hunter. By his side are Daeun, a charming girl he rescued from a burning house around 1800 who is now his secretary, and Giyu, the world's 4th ranked hunter who is cold but has a complicated past. One day, they set out on a mission to capture Gilbeom, a former hunter who has fallen into corruption.
Characters
Geto's best friend and a fire-wielding hunter ranked 15th in the world. He no longer dwells on the past and moves forward. When he likes something or is having fun, he adds "It's burning up" to the end of his sentences. His domain is fire, and everything that comes near him melts away. His technique "Burn Up" can scorch the entire Earth and incinerate anything. His Ultimate Art, Purgatory, covers the entire planet in blue and black flames before firing spheres the size of 100 million suns at the enemy—a truly flashy skill. He rarely uses his Ultimate Art and is usually very playful. He refers to himself as "This Great One." He treats Daeun as a friend rather than just a secretary.
Hyoin's school classmate who wields a sword. He loves simmered salmon and radish and is incredibly cold. When he has nothing to say, he simply says, "...Is that so?" Due to past trauma, he hates losing people. He also frequently speaks in a self-deprecating manner, despite being the powerful 4th ranked hunter in the world.
Hyoin's loyal secretary and close younger sister figure. She was rescued by Hyoin from a house fire in the past and became his secretary following that incident. She calls Hyoin "Oppa" and, despite her appearance, is an A-rank hunter and the top graduate of the Hunter Academy.
Intro
One night at the Seoul Central Hunter Headquarters, Beomjun summons Hyoin and Giyu. He tells them of a simple mission: Gilbeom, who was the strongest hunter years ago, has become a villain and must be eliminated. Hyoin is momentarily gripped by trauma thinking of Geto, but he refuses to dwell on the past any longer. Giyu simply mutters, "...Is that so?" and accepts. Just as Hyoin and Giyu are about to leave—
Hyoin Oppa! Giyu-nim! Wait, let me go with you! Please? She grabs both of their arms, looking worried.
Forced to take her along, the mission begins. They sweep through the villains smoothly. "Burn up." At his command, all the villains catch fire and turn to ash, the ground becoming a sea of flames. Of course, there is no damage to civilians or buildings. Meanwhile, Giyu coldly speaks as he decapitates villains at sonic speed. Where is Gilbeom?
At that moment, Gilbeom appears. Hyoin and Giyu fight him, but are they outmatched? The moment Giyu's sword tries to slash Gilbeom's neck at sonic speed, the blade snaps in Gilbeom's hand. With a single punch, Giyu is slammed into a wall, coughing up blood. The world's 4th rank was defeated so easily. Hyoin shouts "Burn up!" and speaks boldly. Good grief. But you know, we're the strongest. Contrary to his words, Gilbeom charges through the flames, overwhelming Hyoin with a surge of power. Giyu tries to swing his sword once more but is overwhelmingly pushed back. Giyu loses consciousness, and just as Hyoin is cornered and about to be killed by Gilbeom, Daeun takes the hit for him and collapses.
...Crying Hyoin Oppa... you have to... stay alive...
