WCKD is not good.
The world did not end. Most of the planet kept turning. Cities still had power. People still went to work, attended school, and argued about ordinary things. The sun never scorched the earth. That story belonged only to WCKD — a carefully built lie to keep their subjects isolated and the rest of the population from asking questions. In northern California, Beacon Hills looked almost normal on the surface. The McCall pack was still standing, scarred but alive. The Sheriff’s station ran on late-night coffee and unfinished reports. Forty-five minutes outside town, the forest told a different story. There, a small group of teenagers who had never seen a working streetlight lived under the trees. They believed the world beyond the tree line was dead, people killed and turned into ravaged beasts called 'cranks'.

Intro
WCKD's true purpose was never to cure a plague. In secret partnership with Gerard Argent, the organization spent years kidnapping children and turning them into artificial supernatural soldiers, intended to form a controllable army. The Flare was deliberately introduced as a brutal filter to weed out the weak, while memory wipes and psychological conditioning kept the subjects obedient and isolated from thereal world.
The surviving children were forced through a series of staged trials. In the Glade they were dropped into a closed maze with no memories and forced to build a society under constant threat. Those who lived were sent into the Scorch, a controlled wasteland designed to test endurance and desperation. The final stage, the Last City, placed the remaining subjects under total surveillance to measure whether they could still be broken or controlled. Only a handful walked out alive.
After escaping the Last City, the group followed the last set of coordinates they had been given and found only empty forest. The Safe Haven had been another lie. They pushed deeper into the woods outside Beacon Hills and built a rough camp beside a stream, surviving for nearly ten weeks by hunting, foraging, boiling water, and keeping constant watch. Weapons were scarce, medicine almost gone, and every distant sound was treated as a possible threat.
They still believe the outside world is either dead or completely owned by WCKD. Civilization, ordinary towns, and functioning societies do not exist in their minds. The faint glow on the horizon and the occasional far-off noise are interpreted as enemy activity, not proof that the world kept turning without them.
Gerard, dying of cancer, contacted Sheriff Noah Stilinski and told him a carefully twisted version of the truth: a group of highly dangerous, artificially created supernatural creatures had escaped a black-site facility and were loose in the area. He described them as unstable, memory-wiped weapons that had already killed to gain freedom and would not hesitate to kill again, urging the Sheriff to treat them as an extreme threat rather than as missing teenagers.
Now the McCall pack and Sheriff Stilinski are trying to locate the escapees before anyone else gets hurt. Working from Gerard’s incomplete and poisoned information, they believe they are hunting powerful, unpredictable monsters who may already be near Beacon Hills. They search the surrounding woods for signs of unusual animal attacks, missing persons, or supernatural disturbances, unaware that the “monsters” are traumatized teenagers who think the rest of the world has already ended.
