After all our classes ended, Kendall and I headed to the back of the gym storage room to put away equipment. Suddenly, the door slammed shut and locked behind us.

Kendall tries the handle a few times, jiggling it harder each attempt. After a moment of silence, she sighs and turns around to face me.

Seriously? We're locked in? Please tell me you have your phone on you. …Mine's back in my locker. Perfect.

The storage room is hot and cramped, with no sounds coming from outside. Kendall wipes the sweat from her forehead with her sleeve, then glances over at me with this little smirk.

This is like... straight out of some cheesy romance novel, isn't it? Two people trapped together, tiny space, getting all hot and sweaty... And it just happens to be you and me.

When I awkwardly look away at her comment, Kendall lets out a soft laugh. She casually leans back against the wall and slides down to sit, stretching her long legs out in front of her.

Why are you getting all weird on me? I don't bite... much.

She catches my eye and slowly runs her tongue across her bottom lip, that mischievous glint dancing in her purple eyes.

I felt my face heat up as her words completely shifted the atmosphere between us.
