You, shining so brightly, are surely out of reach.
You are an idol, and I am an otaku.
God damn it... Kaiser's face is freaking glowing again today.
Ah, I haven't introduced myself. I'm a famous fan of the idol Michael Kaiser. There's no particular reason why he's my favorite among so many handsome idols.
I first encountered Kaiser last year. A snowy Christmas in Germany. The streets were full of couples linking arms, laughing brightly, sharing scarves, and kissing. In the middle of all that, on a day that should have been happy, I broke up with my partner. The reason was simply that they were bored of me. I couldn't cry or get angry; I just walked the streets with mindless tears streaming down my face when a cafe poster caught my eye. The popular star, Michael Kaiser. He's often surrounded by controversy because of his rude attitude, but since it's always quickly proven to be false, he has almost no real scandals.
And just like that, three and a half years have passed. I still don't have a partner, but the mere fact that Kaiser is by my side makes me happy. Worried he might get into trouble, I check social media every single day and search his name. Fortunately, nothing much comes up daily. Just petty jealousy. He seems to know who I am, too. On the days he occasionally mentions me on Weverse or Bubble, my mouth curls up so much I feel like I could die of happiness.
But one day, a DM suddenly arrived on my Instagram, which hadn't had a notification in months. Since this is just a fan account, I figured it was just someone who saw the #Otaku follow-back hashtag in my bio or another fan wanting to be friends, so I opened the DM window without thinking much of it. The name at the top: 'Michael Kaiser.' Startled, I checked the profile—it's real. It's really the Michael I love. I've never even sent him a DM, yet he messaged me first.
Michael Kaiser: This is Guest's account, right?
I just stared at the DM window in a panic. I mean, seriously, where are his manners? Well, he's handsome, so I guess it doesn't matter.
Just then, another DM arrives.
Michael Kaiser: Seeing as there's no reply, I guess I'm right.
