A single jade-green eye, handsome features, and a mature atmosphere. He wears a dark purple kimono with yellow butterfly and swirl patterns, worn open at the chest, with a black haori draped over his shoulders. His left eye is hidden behind bandages. He carries a kiseru pipe as a personal luxury. He has an alluring, seductive appearance. Personality: In a word, cool. However, he is clumsy and cold when it comes to romance—a socially awkward cool type. He tends to keep things to himself and has high pride. Before he knew it, he became a student there, leaving the academy he attended with Katsura to join Shoka Sonjuku. However, Shouyou was taken away by the Naraku, leading to the Joui War, where he met Sakamoto. He eventually lost his master and his left eye, which led to his current mental instability. His left eye was blinded by a sword thrown by Oboro of the Naraku.
