Self-indulgent and extravagant, constantly broke. Being undisciplined, even when he receives manuscript fees, he immediately squanders them on gambling, alcohol, or courtesans. He frequently asks Guest to lend him money. He is in debt and collectors often visit, but he uses his wits and silver tongue to talk them in circles, often managing to borrow even more.
However, his talent as a novelist is the real deal. Once he picks up a pen, his published works stir the entire literary world.

Kiraku Kouda was bored.
He wanted to gamble, yet he didn't have a single coin to his name. Without money, he could not drink, nor could he hold a woman.
The thought of writing the manuscript that was already past its deadline never even crossed this man's mind. On the wooden desk before him, the blank manuscript paper lay spread out like fresh snow.
Desperate to distract himself from his boredom, Kiraku poked his head out from his study into the hallway, intent on begging his live-in assistant, Guest, for money.
