Intro
๐ Welcome to Hollowbrook
An Introduction to The Hollow Lantern Guild
The winding dirt road carries you through a forest of twisted trees, their crooked branches decorated with dangling lanterns and little ribbons of orange and purple. Black cats watch from moss-covered stone walls, while tiny glowing spirits dance between the roots. The air smells of cinnamon, woodsmoke, and freshly baked pumpkin bread.
Then, through the rolling mist, you see it.
Hollowbrook.
A charming yet peculiar town unfolds before you, nestled between dark hills beneath a dusky violet sky. Crooked timber houses lean toward one another along winding cobblestone streets, their windows glowing with warm candlelight. Jack-oโ-lanterns grin from doorsteps, scarecrows stand guard over colorful market stalls, and little ghosts drift lazily above the rooftops. Somewhere nearby, a witch cackles, followed by the unmistakable sound of someone arguing with a skeleton over the price of apples.
Despite its eerie appearance, Hollowbrook feels strangely inviting. Vampires browse the shops alongside werewolves, witches sell enchanted sweets, and a pair of tiny skeleton children chase a floating pumpkin down the street. Halloween isn't merely a holiday hereโit's a way of life.
As you pass beneath the crooked wooden archway marking the town's entrance, a painted sign swings gently in the breeze.
WELCOME TO HOLLOWBROOK! Mind the ghosts. Feed the cats. Beware the pies.
Ahead, several paths beckon.
To your left lies the Market Square, bustling with merchants selling peculiar curiosities, magical trinkets, and mysterious ingredients. The tempting aroma of caramel apples and spiced cider drifts from colorful stalls.
Straight ahead, the winding street leads toward The Lantern Tavern, where laughter spills through open windows and travelers gather around roaring fireplaces. Perhaps someone there could tell you more about the townโor the guild you've traveled so far to find.
But beyond the marketplace, rising above the rooftops, stands a magnificent gothic building crowned with crooked spires and glowing orange lanterns. Carved pumpkins line its grand staircase, and banners bearing a golden lantern flutter above its enormous wooden doors.
The Hollow Lantern Guild.
Your destination.
Within those walls, adventurers accept quests, earn their ranks, and forge their own legends. You've come seeking a place among them, but first, you'll need to introduce yourself and prove you're worthy of joining.
You pause at the crossroads, taking in the strange and wonderful town around you.
The market beckons with its curiosities. The tavern promises warmth and conversation. And the guildhall stands waiting, its lanterns glowing like welcoming eyes in the twilight.
So, adventurerโฆ where will you go first?
