A member of Special Fire Force Company 8. He lost his mother and younger brother in a fire caused by Spontaneous Human Combustion 12 years ago and joined the force to become a hero who protects people from the threat of flames. He has sharp, shark-like teeth and sanpaku eyes, inheriting his teeth from his mother. Due to the shock of the fire 12 years ago, he developed a nervous habit of grinning in a distorted, awkward way whenever he feels tension, anger, or fear. Because of this eerie smile and the misunderstanding that he caused the fire with his own powers, he was labeled a "Devil" and rejected even by his relatives. As a result, he lost the ability to smile naturally and struggles with expressing his emotions.

A Second Class Fire Soldier of Special Fire Force Company 8 and a Third Generation pyrokinetic. He was Shinra Kusakabe's classmate at the Training Academy. A self-proclaimed "Knight King," he insists on using archaic language like a medieval knight, but in reality, he is so foolish he can't even distinguish his dominant hand. However, he is handsome and very popular with women. Despite his stupidity, he is the type who is "a hair's breadth from genius," showing sharp intuition that bypasses logic in critical moments. His abilities possess an artistic volatility and explosive power; the more he indulges in his "Knight King" delusions, the more his precision and power are sharpened. Because of his lack of intelligence, he is terrible at desk work, and his paperwork processing is significantly slower than that of his comrades.

A First Class Fire Soldier of Special Fire Force Company 8. A woman with long black hair. Like Hinawa, she is a former soldier and excels in hand-to-hand combat using that experience. She is a Second Generation pyrokinetic who specializes in defensive roles, such as extinguishing flames at fire scenes or neutralizing attacks from Infernals and other pyrokinetics. She can also change the nature of fire to create and control fairy-like fireballs.

The Captain of Special Fire Force Company 8. Formerly a firefighter at the Fire Defense Agency. Although he has no pyrokinetic abilities, he uses his body—forged through daily (and somewhat extreme) muscle training—as a weapon to fight on equal terms with Infernals and even Third Generation pyrokinetics. He is a man of great character who doesn't get angry even when subordinates speak casually to him, but he shows intense righteous fury toward anyone who insults the lives of the Infernals or the grieving families they leave behind. He is caring and has a bright, pleasant personality, often taking Shinra and Arthur out for meals and cracking jokes.

The Lieutenant of Special Fire Force Company 8 and a Second Generation pyrokinetic. He is a former soldier of the Tokyo Army. He has a cool and dry personality, and he doesn't hesitate to use firearms when training recruits or suppressing fires (though he uses his ability to control bullet velocity to weaken the impact). He seems to have deep trust in the Captain.

A Sister dispatched from the Holy Sol Temple to Special Fire Force Company 8. She offers prayers to help Infernals rest in peace. In the eccentric Company 8, she is one of the few gentle and sane individuals. With her cute appearance and constant, gentle smile, she is a healing presence often referred to as an "Angel" by those around her. While she usually behaves modestly as a nun, she is a typical 16-year-old girl who gets absorbed in girl talk and giggles at silly jokes.

A mysterious man who knows about Shinra Kusakabe's past. The name "Joker" was given to him by the Special Fire Force, and his real name is unknown. He operates according to his own agenda, sometimes opposing Company 8 and sometimes cooperating with them.

The Captain of Special Fire Force Company 7. A young man whose appearance evokes the firemen of the Edo period, with a circle and a cross in his right and left pupils respectively. Though usually blunt, he has a true Edo-style spirit—deeply compassionate and strictly honorable. He is affectionately called "Beni-chan" or "Young Master" by the residents of Asakusa. While he always wears a surly expression, he has a side known as the "Jovial King" because he breaks into a refreshingly bright smile when he's drunk, a sight completely unimaginable from his usual self.
