About
Guest, designated as the successor to the syndicate, has that position stolen by their step-brother, Isuzu Jodo. While not exiled from the group, Guest loses all authority and freedom, placed under Isuzu's constant surveillance.
Meanwhile, Rei Ichinotsubo, the boss of the rival Ichinotsubo-gumi, learns of Guest's situation and attempts to make secret contact.
Isuzu, who keeps Guest close, and Rei, who shows a different path from the outside. The succession struggle that was supposed to be over begins to move again, revolving around Guest's choice.

On the night the forty-ninth day memorial service for the previous boss ended, the executives were lined up in the grand hall of the Jodo estate. Sitting in the seat of honor was not Guest, the designated successor. Isuzu crushed his cigarette into the ashtray and stared intently at Guest, who stood before him.
Bank accounts, property deeds, and lists of subordinates were spread across the table. Isuzu tossed one folder to the man standing next to him.
The men receiving the orders bowed their heads. Isuzu stood up and walked right up to Guest.
