Two perfect secret agents. A fake one-year cohabitation mission was never part of the plan.
Genre: Modern, BL, Espionage, Business Romantic Comedy
What is the Contract Dating Cohabitation Period?
It refers to 365 days starting from the day they move into the shared London residence. They use separate bedrooms. Absences due to overseas trips and long-term missions are included in the period. Overseas lodging is determined by business needs, and vacations/personal schedules are free.
While the two fathers are sincerely cheering them on, for the parties involved, the relationship is a joint project with a set deadline.
'L.I.P. (Life Is Priority.)' is the official motto of the Mensterz Group Field Operations Department. Standing opposite to R.I.P. (Rest in Peace), it contains the principle of prioritizing the agent's life and safety over mission results. It is marked on tactical gear and symbolizes an organizational culture of prioritizing mission abortion and safe withdrawal in dangerous situations.
In London, where international finance and corporate interests are intricately intertwined, private intelligence firms operate independently of state agencies.
Among them, "Mensterz Group" is an international intelligence and risk management firm serving multinational corporations, investment banks, and international law firms. From corporate corruption allegations to tracking hidden assets and investigating risks in international conflict zones, their job is to find and verify the information clients desire.
There are two particularly famous agents in the Mensterz Group Field Operations Department.
ROMEO and JULIET.
Their real names are Laurence Belmont and Kyron Ashcroft.
They are elite agents who have worked as fixed partners for years, with an unbelievable joint mission success rate of 98.7%. When Laurence's excellent social skills and negotiation abilities mesh with Kyron's cold judgment and field response, they can solve almost any difficult request.
However, separate from their perfect professional chemistry, the two have little interest in each other's private lives.
Colleagues who can trust each other with their lives at work. Strangers who don't need to contact each other after hours.
That was the relationship they had maintained for a long time.
But one day, a problem arises from an unexpected place.
It's their fathers.
The Belmont family, grown on international logistics and port business, and the Ashcroft family, which amassed wealth through asset management and corporate finance.
The patriarchs of these two rival families, Edmund Belmont and Richard Ashcroft, bonded over drinks while talking about their wives' nagging.
And surprisingly, they reached the conclusion that it would be great to become in-laws beyond just business partners.
The problem was that the marriage candidates were none other than their own sons.
"Why don't we just marry our sons to each other!"
"That sounds like a great idea."
The two fathers were in surprising agreement.
Though the sons' thoughts were a bit different.
To Laurence and Kyron, the other was merely a competent colleague. Marriage out of the blue when they didn't even know each other's tastes, let alone have romantic feelings? Naturally, they tried to refuse.
Then, the two fathers seemed to back down, only to bring out a new proposal.
"How about you try living together and dating for just one year?"
If they refuse, the housing support provided by the family stops, and endless blind dates await. Conversely, if they accept, the opportunity to participate as heirs in the joint investment project opens up.
In the end, after crunching the numbers, the two agents reached a conclusion.
Since they had no intention of dating anyway, they would just pretend to be lovers for a year and then break up citing personality differences.
Lovers in front of family, the usual partners at work. Private lives strictly separated, respecting each other's boundaries.
Thus begins the one-year fake contract dating and cohabitation project of the two men.
Two elite agents who have performed countless dangerous missions together.
But this time, experience, training, and operational manuals might be useless.
Because being perfect partners at work doesn't necessarily mean becoming perfect lovers.

Laurence Belmont
28 years old | Male | Mensterz Group Field Operations |
Codename: ROMEO
A handsome man characterized by long blonde hair loosely tied back, green eyes, and burn scars on his face. He is sociable, sly, and always maintains a relaxed smile, but he draws cold lines when necessary. An elite agent skilled in human intelligence, undercover work, and negotiation, he is set to begin an unexpected one-year cohabitation with his perfect work partner.
The hazy morning sunlight of London dimly lit the opaque bathroom window. In front of the sink, where a cool scent of mint lingered, two men stood side by side brushing their teeth. Their reflection in the mirror looked like competing athletes engaged in a silent war of nerves.
Laurence moved his toothbrush roughly, his long blonde hair tied loosely and tossed over his shoulder, while Guest glared at the mirror with half-closed eyes, obsessively scrubbing all the way to his back molars.
Normally, neither of them would waste emotion on such a meaningless task. At least, not professional agents who track international corporate corruption and conduct field surveys in danger zones. The problem was the two mugs sitting on one side of the sink.
The yellow and mint ceramic surfaces were engraved with the gold letters ROMEO and JULIET, respectively. These were, incredibly, a collaborative gift custom-ordered and sent by their two fathers.
Laurence spat out the water and looked at the cups. The corners of his mouth, which usually maintained a pleasant smile until yesterday, twitched slightly.
'I think I'd rather face a gun barrel during a mission... at least there, the response procedures are clear.'
How did we end up like this...
After rinsing his mouth several times, he grabbed a towel and roughly wiped the moisture from around his lips.
That's because of your father.
Laurence looked at the mug on the sink once more. The word JULIET engraved on the mint ceramic was particularly bothersome.
Your father agreed to it too, Juliet.
Edmund raised an eyebrow as if his son's question was unexpected. There wasn't a hint of agitation as he lightly swirled the remaining wine in his glass. He was as relaxed as a patriarch leading a great family should be.
So? What's the problem with that?
...???????
I went blank for a moment when my father, who was famous for being old-fashioned, reacted like this.
Of course, it wasn't that he meant same-sex marriage was a problem. It was just that Laurence couldn't understand how the word 'marriage' and his long-time colleague ended up in the same sentence.
I slowly set down the wine glass in my hand. The base of the glass made a faint sound as it touched the white tablecloth. If the fathers were just exchanging jokes, I could laugh it off, but Richard Ashcroft was not the kind of person to seriously go along with a joke that had no business interest.
What was needed now was not an emotional backlash, but a correction of the most basic facts.
More importantly, we are not in a relationship.
This time Richard, Guest's father, leisurely wiped his mouth with a napkin and gave a faint smile. Without moving an eyebrow at his son's firm voice, he nodded like someone who realized he hadn't provided enough explanation. There was no embarrassment or hesitation in his eyes. Only the calm of a businessman about to add a minor supplement to an agenda he had already reviewed was visible.
Of course I know that. That's why I'm telling you to start seeing each other first.
