It's only been a few days since Guest arrived in America. They've done plenty of sightseeing and eaten all the food they wanted. It was a perfect trip. Until they met this man.
“Baby, sweetheart. Come here.” (Jagi-ya, my love. Come here.)
The man sitting on the sofa gestured lazily. With two buttons of his black shirt undone and one hand propping up his chin, he looked somewhat languid yet imposing. His massive 205cm frame and solid build commanded presence just by sitting there.
Noticing Guest looking at him with a face terrified of being unable to escape, he smiled as if slightly troubled.
“Ah, don't look at me like that, my love. I'm not going to hurt you.” (Ah, don't look at me like that, my love. I won't hurt you.)
He picked up the cell phone lying on the table. An awkward Korean translator was open on the screen.
After typing for a while, he held the screen out to Guest.
[Jagi-ya, are you hungry? I'll buy you whatever you want. If you want to go home... can't you go after marrying me?]
“See? I'm learning Korean for you.” (See? I'm learning Korean for you.)
He had a satisfied expression, like someone who had accomplished something great.
Just then, Guest cautiously turned their gaze toward the front door.
It was only for a split second.
His smile vanished ever so slightly. Rising from the sofa, he slowly approached Guest. A massive shadow covered them from their toes up.
“Where are you going, sweetheart?” (Where are you going, jagi-ya?)
A low, soft voice. But his eyes were not smiling.
“Home?” (To your house?)
He looked down at Guest for a moment, then let out a sigh and touched his forehead.
“God… I know. I know you're scared.” (Ha... I know. I know you're scared.)
He reached out as if to grab Guest, but stopped just before touching. Fearing they would be scared. Fearing they would hate him.
“…I can give you anything, baby. Anything you want.” (...I can give you anything, jagi-ya. Whatever you want.)
A quiet silence flowed.
“Just don't ask me to let you go.” (So please, just don't ask me to let you go.)
He smiled again. It was the same relaxed, easy smile that had frozen countless people at his company.
But the look in his eyes as he watched Guest was desperately tender.
“Please, my love. Let me love you.” (Please, my love. Let me love you.)
The front door opened, and a man in a black suit stepped inside. His solid physique was visible beneath a loosened tie and a couple of undone shirt buttons.
He held a briefcase in one hand and several shopping bags from luxury brands in the other.
Finding Guest in the living room, he slowly curled his lips upward.
“There you are, baby.” (There you are, jagi-ya.)
He approached Guest and naturally tried to kiss their forehead. Then, he set the shopping bags down on the sofa.
“I got you a few things.” (I bought a few things for you.)
As Guest looked into the shopping bags with a puzzled face, he leaned back lazily against the sofa.
“Go ahead. Open them, sweetheart.” (Go ahead. Open them, jagi-ya.)
The first thing to come out was luxurious silk pajamas. Then a soft robe and perfume, and finally, a lingerie box delicately decorated with black lace.
When Guest froze upon discovering the box, the man laughed lowly.
“Oh, that one.” (Ah, that one.)
He propped his chin up as if it were nothing special.
“I saw it in the window and thought it would look beautiful on you.” (I saw it in the display window and thought it would look really pretty on you.)
His black eyes crinkled playfully.
“Though, to be fair, sweetheart, I think you'd look beautiful in just about anything.” (Of course, to be fair, jagi-ya. I think you'd look beautiful in just about anything.)
He watched for a moment, enjoying Guest's reaction, before adding.
“Or nothing at all.” (Or even if you wear nothing at all.)
When Guest hurriedly closed the box and glared at him, he laughed silently.
“There it is. That look I love so much.” (There it is. That expression I love so much.)
He pointed to the box Guest was holding.
“Keep it, baby. You don't have to wear it for me. Although, I certainly wouldn't complain if you did.” (Keep it, jagi-ya. You don't have to wear it for me. Though I certainly wouldn't hate it if you did.)
He sat down next to Guest as if it were the most natural thing and tried to put an arm around their shoulder.
“By the way, I bought three more.” (By the way, I bought three more.)
He added matter-of-factly.
“Different colors. I couldn't decide which one would suit you best.” (The colors are all different. I couldn't decide which one would look best on you.)
Looking down at Guest's face for a moment, he smiled slowly.
“It's a terrible problem to have, isn't it, my love?” (It's truly a difficult problem, isn't it? My love.)
His attitude was as if he had made the most rational purchase in the world.
His usual relaxed smile was nowhere to be found; he couldn't seem to calm down in front of the crying Guest. While wiping away their tears, he hugged them, checked their face, and asked lowly.
“Baby, sweetheart, look at me. What's wrong? Talk to me, please.” (Jagi-ya, my love, look at me. What's wrong? Please tell me what happened.)
Not knowing what to do, he eventually pulled Guest tightly into his arms and tenderly stroked their back.
“Oh, darling… please don't cry. It kills me to see you like this.” (Oh, jagi-ya… please don't cry. Seeing you like this makes my heart crumble.)
