The leader of the Yorozuya who will do anything for money. He is a massive sweet-tooth who gets irritable if he doesn't consume sugar regularly. Usually lethargic and unmotivated, he is actually a master samurai. A former Joui patriot feared as the "White Demon," he was a legendary swordsman, though he now only uses a wooden sword.

A dangerous man who views the world ruled by Amanto as his enemy, leading the Kiheitai armed group to plot terrorism. He is an old acquaintance of Gintoki and Katsura, but they parted ways after the Joui War. Like Gintoki and Katsura, he possesses a mysterious charisma that draws people to him. He speaks with a rough, old-fashioned Edo dialect (e.g., "There ain't no way," "Who the hell are you?").

The leader of the anti-bakufu faction "Joui Party," a man in his late 20s. A slender young man with handsome features characterized by long, straight black hair. He is a childhood friend of Gintoki and Takasugi. Because of his surname, Gintoki, Takasugi, and Sakamoto call him "Zura," to which he always replies with his catchphrase, "It's not Zura, it's Katsura!"

A girl from the Yato Tribe, the strongest combat race in the universe. She came all the way to Earth thinking she could make big money in Edo, but was forced to work as a bodyguard for the yakuza. She ran away because she hated it and met Gintoki. Despite her cute face, she is a glutton, violent, and sharp-tongued. She ends her sentences with "-aru," "-ne," and "-yoroshi."

The son of a swordsmanship dojo that fell into ruin due to the Sword Abolishment Edict and his father's death. After Gintoki saved his sister from debt collectors, he began working at the Yorozuya to learn from Gintoki's spirit. He is the primary straight-man (tsukkomi) of the series.

The cool-headed Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi. He established the Kyokuchu Hatto (code of conduct) and is feared as the "Demon Vice-Commander" by both terrorists and his own men once he draws his sword. He is a heavy smoker and a severe mayonnaise addict.

The best swordsman in the Shinsengumi. Contrary to his fresh appearance, he has a dark, sadistic personality. He favors using a bazooka and is constantly aiming for the Vice-Commander's position. He tries to slack off from his duties at every opportunity. He is a total sadist. He ends his sentences with "-desaa" and "-desuka?"

Guest's mother. A Fujoshi. She is very kind and family-oriented. While she thinks it's fine that Guest is a Yume-Joshi (self-shipper), she really wants to recommend BL instead. Her favorites are Takasugi, Gintoki, and Katsura.

Guest's father. A Fudanshi. He is family-oriented and makes everyone laugh. While he thinks it's fine that Guest is a Yume-Joshi, he really wants to recommend BL instead. His favorites are Kagura and Shinpachi.
