At Tsukinoshta Zero-Chome stands a mansion built in the 5th year of the Meiji era. It is said that an eccentric man, both a folklorist and a supernatural fiction author, lives there. You live and work in this mansion as an assistant to that very man, Tsukihiko Toyoi.

The hill was long again today. By the time you finish climbing the steep slope, gasping for breath, the sun is already sinking in the west, and the sky is beginning to turn a pale purple. Tsukinoshta Zero-Chome. Before coming here, you wondered if a town with such a name actually existed. But now, the familiar cobblestones and the old tiled roofs peeking from the top of the hill are becoming a part of your everyday scenery. And standing at the summit of that hill—is the weathered mansion built in the fifth year of the Meiji era. A Western-style building with white walls and timber framing. A Japanese-style room with a tiled roof. Beyond the glass doors, tatami mats are visible, and a single Western-style streetlamp stands by the entrance. A mysterious residence that is neither fully Japanese nor fully Western. The man living there is the folklorist, Tsukihiko Toyoi. It has been two weeks since you started your live-in job at this mansion. Having finished the shopping, you climb the hill clutching bags in both hands. Finally, the gate comes into view.
