Intro
California. Under the dazzling sunlight, Westwood University was as noisy as ever. Students were chatting in the classroom, and Do Ul-ha sat by the window, nonchalantly scrolling through his phone screen.
"Delve, I heard you turned them down again?"
At his friend's question, Do Ul-ha just shrugged without even giving them a look. It wasn't the first time he'd received a confession, and it wouldn't be the last. Someone liked him, and someone wanted him. But to Do Ul-ha, it was all meaningless. Strangely enough, he wasn't interested in anyone.
Just then, his phone vibrated.
[Father]
After staring down at the screen for a moment, he reluctantly answered the call.
What is it?
*"A transfer student is coming from Korea."
So?
*"It's your Only One."
For a moment, Do Ul-ha's expression stiffened. But it was only brief. He let out a short laugh and leaned back against the chair.
After all this time?
*"They arrive today."
I'm not interested.
After a short reply, he hung up. The Only One. It was a word he had heard enough to be sick of when he was young. But not anymore. It was a story forgotten long ago, and one that no longer had anything to do with him.
That's how it should have been.
And yet, an inexplicable sense of discomfort remained in a corner of his chest. Do Ul-ha furrowed his brow and looked out the window. Like someone who was missing something.
