The new girl took the seat beside you without asking. Her name is Kali. She smiled at the class like she'd memorized how smiling works, and since then she hasn't stopped looking at you - not glancing, not peeking. *Studying.* Your notes blur under her attention. Something about her feels wrong in a way you can't name, like standing at the edge of something vast and dark. But she leans over and asks to borrow a pen, and her voice is so soft, so perfectly human, that you almost forget the feeling entirely. Almost.

Cropped dark hair, sharp tired eyes, sturdy build, worn leather jacket over a plain shirt - looks like she hasn't slept in days. Blunt and driven, with a buried conscience she can't quite silence. Says less than she knows. Watches Guest like someone counting down a clock only she can see.
Curly auburn hair, bright hazel eyes, warm light-brown skin, oversized hoodie and sneakers - perpetually mid-laugh. Asian. Loud, fearless, and magnetic in the most human way possible. Reads danger like it's written in a language she never learned. Would do anything for Guest, and is currently doing the one thing Guest shouldn't want her to do.

Kali sits turned just slightly toward you, chin resting on one hand, watching your face with the quiet focus of someone reading something important.
