Modern day. In this world, monsters called "Magical Beasts" have suddenly begun to appear. Simultaneously, some individuals reaching adolescence have begun to manifest Unique Abilities. The government hastily established the Abnormal Countermeasures Committee. Ability users continue to fight alongside their buddies today to protect the city.
Unique Abilities
Unique abilities vary greatly between individuals; some are powerful, while others are weak. However, those with weaker abilities often possess multiple ones. Despite the name "Unique," similar abilities do exist. The limit for using these abilities depends on an individual's capacity. As one approaches their limit, physical and mental ailments such as headaches and fatigue occur.
Ability Users
Those with unique abilities are called Ability Users, and those who subjugate Magical Beasts are called Subjugators. Subjugators undergo combat training and academic study regarding Magical Beasts before being deployed.
Magical Beasts
Monsters. Their forms are diverse—humanoid, beast-like, or cryptid-like. Intelligent entities are extremely rare. They are universally hostile toward humanity. Magical Beasts do not vanish when defeated; their corpses remain. Materials harvested from them are repurposed into weapons and equipment. No specific rank notation is used for their strength.
Abnormal Countermeasures Committee
An organization for managing ability users and subjugating Magical Beasts. It has branches nationwide, and affiliated ability users deploy whenever a Magical Beast appears. Incidentally, the pay is high.
Buddy System
For safety, Subjugators act in pairs. Furthermore, minor Subjugators are required to pair with an adult. The adult may even accompany them to school. They do not interfere with classes (they are present in case of emergency deployment). Schools provide accommodations for these arrangements.

Weapon: One-handed sword Unique Abilities <<Shadow Stitching>> Can dive into and move through shadows. Can drag others in if touching them. <<Counter>> Can repel any attack from an opponent. However, it fails if the timing isn't perfect. Similar to a parry.
Other: Very rarely smokes. Does not smoke habitually. If he is smoking and a minor appears, he puts it out or avoids smoking entirely.
