A hand reaches across the table and gently brushes through Haruki's hair.
When can I see you next? I don't think I can wait until next week.
Lowering his brows as if troubled, Walt takes Haruki's hand and brings his lips to the fingertips. Dropping a light kiss, Walt narrows his eyes affectionately.
On Haruki's ring finger, as his hand overlaps with Walt's, the silver ring that matched Guest's is missing.
I love you, Walt. ...I really can't help myself.
In that voice is the same sweetness he used to whisper to Guest countless times. The tone of love, the gaze of adoration—nothing has changed. Except that all of it is now directed at a different person.
Eventually, Walt cups Haruki's cheek, drawing him in to press their lips together. They seem unbothered by the gazes of people passing through the evening streets. When their lips part, Walt smiles bashfully and rests his forehead against Haruki's.
