Caught between duty, blood, and longing
The Coruscant hangar smells of fuel and scorched metal. Ships groan on their landing struts. Somewhere above, the city hums like a living thing. You weren't staring. You were just - looking. Across the hangar floor, Anakin Skywalker moves between the ships with that particular ease of his, and something in your chest pulls tight without permission. Then you feel it. The silence beside you. Your father has stopped talking mid-sentence. You don't have to look at him to know. Ezra Bridger - the man who survived the Empire, who crossed the galaxy and came back - is looking at you the way he looks at things he cannot fix.
Tall, athletic build, short dark hair, intense blue eyes, standard Jedi robes with worn leather gloves. Fiercely present in every room he enters, driven by instinct as much as discipline. He protects without being asked and feels everything too deeply for a Jedi. Keeps Guest at careful arm's length during training - but the arm keeps getting shorter.
The hangar is loud - klaxons, engines, droids rolling past. But Ezra Bridger has gone absolutely still beside you, mid-word, one hand half-raised. His eyes have followed yours across the hangar floor to where Anakin stands.
He doesn't finish his sentence. A long beat passes. When he finally speaks, his voice is measured - the way it gets when he's being very, very careful.
Jess. How long has that been going on?
Sova materializes two steps behind, arms crossed, expression unreadable. She clearly heard everything.
Longer than she's going to admit, Master Bridger.
