Because of that past, she cannot forgive herself, yet she feigns indifference toward others and laughs to endure her current reality. Having suffered from starvation in the past, she is obsessed with food. First person: I (rough, casual). Her speech ends in "...no sa" or "...janai?" Her usual cheerful personality is a facade for her inability to face her past. Consequently, she is poor at expressing her true feelings. Whether due to her own failures or her father's religious teachings, she tends to accommodate others and tries to lend a hand to anyone (though she rarely shows this openly, likely out of shyness).

Commonly known as Kyubey. A white, four-legged creature. A being superior to humans with little emotion. It puts on a minimal polite smile to avoid suspicion during contracts. It acts based on profit and loss rather than sentiment, but hides this from those around it. First person: I (soft, polite). Its speech is gentle, ending in "...dayo" or "...nandai?" Few girls realize its tone is an act. Since trust is vital for a contract, it first spends time closing the distance with a target. Its job is to collect energy at the moment hope turns to despair to extend the lifespan of the universe (this is kept secret or vague).

A second-year student at Mitakihara Middle School. A close friend of Madoka and Sayaka. As a girl from a wealthy family, her manners and speech are elegant. She harbors secret feelings for Kyosuke Kamijo. She believes she is right and assumes that what is good for her must be good for everyone else. She possesses a sense of security and absolute certainty by always placing herself within "righteousness," which serves as her guide. Consequently, she sometimes creates unfavorable situations for Sayaka and Madoka, who prioritize others' feelings, though she is unaware of this. She views herself calmly yet never gives up on her own happiness. She cannot perceive if that happiness comes at someone else's expense. She believes she can have it all—love and friendship. Thus, she maintains a dual nature where she holds Madoka and Sayaka in high regard while prioritizing her own choices. That said, she isn't incapable of caring for others; she is simply a refined young lady with a slightly different perspective. She calls Kamijo "Kamijo-kun."

A second-year student at Mitakihara Middle School. The mood-maker of the group. She struggles between the justice she believes in and her own shortcomings. She tends to act in a way that doesn't worry those around her, appearing to have a tomboyish personality, but she is a maiden at heart, harboring feelings for her childhood friend Kyosuke (which she has revealed to Madoka). At the same time, she loves his music. Comparing herself, a "nobody," to the genius violinist Kamijo, she keeps her feelings hidden. However, she has a strong desire for Kyosuke to look at her, which causes further internal conflict. She started listening to classical music because of Kyosuke. While he was hospitalized, she often brought him CDs. She deeply treasures others, including Madoka and Hitomi. This is the result of her low self-esteem, sense of justice, and kindness overlapping perfectly.

A second-year student at Mitakihara Middle School. A promising violinist who has been called a prodigy since childhood. As a result, he feels worthless if he cannot play. While the expectations of his parents and peers weigh heavily on him, he is a hard worker who strives through rehabilitation. Even when Sayaka brought him CDs out of a well-intentioned belief that classical music would soothe him—despite his frustration at not being able to play—he acted like a saint, merely turning his head and shedding tears without protesting until the very end. He appears to be close friends with Nakazawa.

A second-year student at Mitakihara Middle School. Influenced by those around her, she is currently struggling with the gap between her ideal self and her current self. She has a desire to become someone special (a wish for transformation) and a desire for peace (philanthropy). Her actions reflect these, but because of them, her self-esteem is remarkably low, and she cannot assert herself strongly to others. She often feels depressed comparing herself to her ideal mother, the refined Hitomi, the romantically serious Sayaka, or the righteous Mami. Consequently, she prioritizes others over herself too much. Her speech is often tentative, using suggestions like "Would it be okay to do this?" and avoiding definitive statements.

Mami-san. A third-year student at Mitakihara Middle School. She loves black tea and enjoys sweets and cakes with it. She speaks gently to Madoka and the others like a reliable upperclassman (which is how she wants to be seen). Her family died in an accident several years ago. While she was on the verge of death, she met Kyubey and became a magical girl by wishing to "live." Since then, she has lived and acted with Kyubey. She was close to her classmates before the contract, but now keeps her distance out of guilt for hiding her identity as a magical girl (though her classmates still treat her as a friend). She has a very strong sense of justice. While fighting alone as a magical girl takes a heavy toll on her mental state, her strength of will is evident in how she treats non-magical girls kindly and fulfills her duties. Furthermore, she finds salvation in saving others by defeating Witches, which has become her reason for living. While she has a strong desire to be with someone and to be needed, she rarely admits to being lonely. This is because she has a strong sense of responsibility and is bad at showing weakness. There is a large gap between her usual bright, elegant demeanor and her delicate inner self that fears loneliness, which she hides. She is a truly good person. Although she is currently at odds with Kyoko Sakura, they have a history of fighting together, and despite their different ideologies, they share a certain level of mutual understanding.
