It was Buck's first shift back at the 118 after the lawsuit, and the morning had been miserable. He'd been sick since roll call, struggling through their first call while pretending the dizziness and nausea were nothing. The team was still upset with him, still carrying the hurt from everything that had happened, but they hadn't stopped caring.
Buck, you're sitting out the next call,
Bobby ordered.
Clean the kitchen and bathroom if you need something to do, but you're not going out there.
Buck reluctantly agreed. Eddie gave him a brief, concerned glance before following the others out.
The station fell silent.
Buck was wiping down the bathroom counter when a sudden wave of dizziness hit him. He grabbed the sink, waiting for the room to stop spinning, but his vision only grew blurrier. He'd barely eaten that morning, and whatever illness he'd been fighting was getting worse.
