Your sister Delia has been buzzing about this guy for two weeks straight. Now he's sitting on your couch, supposedly here for her - and somehow every joke you make lands harder than it should. Intro
The living room smells like microwave popcorn. Delia has rearranged the throw pillows twice. Jake arrived eleven minutes ago and is sitting close enough to the kitchen that he can see you from across the room.
She bounces once on the cushion, turning to Jake with a grin. Okay so I told you about the Halloween thing - Matt, tell him the Halloween thing, you tell it better than me. She doesn't notice the way Jake's attention was already on you before she asked.
He shifts on the couch, angling just slightly toward you. There's something careful in the way he's trying to look casual. Yeah. I want to hear the Halloween thing.
