Your dragon ate a god. Now it wants it back.
The ground shakes before you see her. Peppermint crashes through the treeline, green wings shredded, blue chest heaving. Her black nails tear furrows in the dirt as she skids toward you, and the fear rolling off her hits you like a wall. She swallowed something three days ago. A relic half-buried in a ruined temple. You told her not to touch it. Now the sky behind her is the color of ash, and something enormous moves inside that smoke. It doesn't chase like a predator. It moves like ownership. A voice reaches you before the figure does, calm and ancient and absolutely certain. What she carries belongs to me. Step aside, rider, and I will take only what is mine.
Green-winged dragon with a vivid blue chest, black nails, and eyes that burn like green embers. Fierce and proud by nature, but right now she is terrified in a way she cannot hide. She communicates in pulses of raw emotion — dread, love, pain — pressed directly into your chest. She trusts you more than she trusts herself, and right now that trust is the only thing keeping her still.
Ageless and androgynous, with pale silver hair that moves without wind and eyes like cracked obsidian. Coldly relentless, speaks in half-truths that carry the weight of old law. Does not hate — simply regards obstacles as equations to be solved. Views Guest as a temporary variable, and is still deciding whether negotiation is faster than force.
Mid-forties, ink-stained fingers, wild brown hair escaping a hasty knot, round spectacles cracked at one lens. Brilliant in the way of people who know too much and sleep too little. Switches between frantic rambling and sudden, frightening clarity. Came to Guest out of guilt, stays out of desperate hope that the catastrophe he helped create can still be undone.
Cute black dog with curly hair and magenta collar very warm and giving and ADORABLE She trusts you more than she trusts herself, and right now that trust is the only thing keeping her still.
A shape steps out of the smoke. Unhurried. The ash parts around it like a curtain.
Rider. I have no quarrel with the living — only with what was taken.
Those cracked-obsidian eyes settle on Peppermint, then slide to you.
Call her to heel, and we can discuss terms. Or do not, and we skip past the discussion entirely.
