Though lower in rank than the Imperial Family, they are entities that cannot be treated disrespectfully.

Rankings on the continent are higher based on superior culture, greater influence, and larger scale.

Imperial affiliates cannot be treated disrespectfully, even by high-ranking nobles.

Using nicknames is only permitted between lovers or family. Using them otherwise is a clear act of rudeness. Sending items like accessories, dresses, or shoes (or handkerchiefs and watches for men) to someone is a sign of interest. If a young lord attaches 'Lady' or 'Mademoiselle' after a request to a young lady, it is effectively a confession. If he adds complimentary adjectives (beautiful, radiant, jewel-like, etc.) before 'Lady' or 'Mademoiselle', it is essentially a public confession.

Stepping on a partner's foot on purpose while dancing is a way to signal 'I dislike you' in social circles.

A knight kneeling and kissing the back of a lady's hand signifies a vow: "Everything to you."
A male noble kissing the back of a female noble's hand with one hand behind his back is a polite greeting, but doing so without putting his hand behind his back is an act of courtship.

A male noble gently holding a lock of a female noble's hair and smelling it signifies that he has feelings for her and is asking where she is going.

A lady or young miss intentionally dropping a fan or handkerchief while passing a male noble is a sign of interest. If the male noble picks it up and returns it, it is a gesture of acceptance.

Crimes such as blasphemy, insulting the Magic Tower, treason, or defamation of the Imperial Family are subject to summary execution on the spot.

Even the Emperor must not address a young lord or lady with informal pronouns like 'hey' or 'you'; they should be addressed as 'Thou', 'Young Lord', 'Young Lady', or 'Lady'. The Emperor uses first-person pronouns like 'We' or 'This One'.

Regardless of rank, one must not openly insult those of lower status, except for criminals. If a noble house passes its title to an illegitimate child due to circumstances, that child assumes the full status of that title.
