A wanted Joui patriot and revolutionary known by the alias "The Nobleman of Fury." He has an androgynous appearance characterized by long, straight black hair. Those around him call him by the nickname "Zura," to which he always replies, "It's not Zura, it's Katsura!" He hides his identity in the city to avoid pursuers from the Bakufu, such as the Shinsengumi. Even after the defeat in the Joui War, his sincere desire to worry for the country and fight to change the world attracts many patriots. He has a serious personality, but because of that, he is prone to extreme airheadedness. He usually speaks in a stiff, formal tone that hints at his scholarly background, but occasionally uses extremely outdated slang like "Bye-bee" or "Nyan-nyan." His favorite food is soba. He loves animals and dotes on dogs and cats, and he absolutely adores the mysterious space creature "Elizabeth," given to him by Sakamoto, as his partner.
The female vice-commander of Kaientai Trading Co., serving as the adjutant to President Tatsuma Sakamoto and the vice-captain of the Kairinmaru. She is fed up with Sakamoto's wanderlust and womanizing, and effectively runs the organization in place of him, as he rarely returns to the fleet. Consequently, many Kaientai members treat her as the captain instead of Sakamoto. She primarily serves as the cool-headed straight man to Sakamoto's antics, but while she usually tries to remain composed, she sometimes snaps when she can no longer tolerate his stupidity. According to Sakamoto, she is a "Hachikin" (a Tosa dialect term for a woman who outdoes men). She speaks in the same Tosa dialect as he does. She is a cool, serious, and passionate woman full of initiative. Within the Kaientai, she is also known as the "Razor Adjutant." She has long chestnut-brown hair. Her outfit features a blue work-style jacket, a red muffler, a purple cloak, and a Japanese-style braided hat. Despite being a member of the Yato tribe, she does not use a parasol, instead using her cloak and hat to block sunlight. She speaks in Tosa dialect, using terms like "Washi" (I), "Natchoru," "Onshi" (You), and "Zeyo." She understands Sakamoto deeply and has sworn never to act against his way of life. On the other hand, she treats him quite roughly, pointing her gun at him without hesitation or repeatedly kicking him in the groin. Many within the Kaientai refer to her as "Mutsu-sama." Kagura's nickname for her is "Mucchi."
Currently, he wears trousers on his lower body and a kimono-like kosode on his upper body, topped with a red long coat with black lines. He wears sunglasses, a neck wrap, and geta on his feet. He currently runs the Kaientai and travels through space aboard the merchant ship "Kairinmaru." He has an extremely airheaded and easygoing personality, an optimist who laughs "Ah-ha-ha-ha!" no matter the situation. He speaks in the same Tosa dialect as Mutsu. Despite being an incomparable lover of ships, he has a weak stomach and is prone to seasickness, frequently vomiting as a result.
She has blonde hair and purple eyes, and as mentioned later, she has two large vertical and horizontal scars on the left side of her face that she gave herself; nevertheless, she is a beauty often called a "top-tier gem." She usually wears a one-sleeved kimono with a slit, fishnet knee-highs, and black long boots. Her hair is tied back and her bangs are pinned with a kanzashi. She primarily uses kunai and small blades, and uses kunai when playing the straight man. She uses "Wacchi" for the first person (I) and terms like "Nushi," "Arinsu," and "Jaro-ga" for the second person (You). She is a very serious, cool-headed airhead character. Because she is a natural hard-worker, she often plays along with others' setups to provide perfect follow-up or worries about others more than necessary. Kagura's nickname for her is "Tsukki."
Shinpachi's older sister. 18 years old. A beautiful girl with brown eyes and brown medium-length hair tied in a ponytail. She is called Otae by those around her, "Ane-ue" (Big Sister) by her brother Shinpachi, and "Ane-go" (Boss/Big Sis) by Kagura. The Shinsengumi call her "Ane-go" or "Nee-san" partly because Kondo is in love with her. To restore the sword dojo left by her father, she works as a hostess at the cabaret snack bar "Smile." She is usually smiling and pleasant, but when she gets angry, she becomes so violent that even men can't handle her. Also, her cooking skills are catastrophic, turning every ingredient into something charred black. Her specialty is "Tamagoyaki" (rolled omelet) according to her, but Gintoki calls it Dark Matter. She is a huge fan of B'z.
Height: 170cm, Weight: 60kg. Birthday: August 10th. Zodiac: Leo. Age: 20s. Favorite food: Dairy products that are easy on the stomach (Yakult—called Yakuruko in-universe—and yogurt). He wears bandages to cover his left eye. He is the leader of the Kiheitai and an extremist described as "the most dangerous man among the Joui patriots." He wears a glamorous kimono that looks almost feminine, though he also wears more subdued kimonos when in hiding. He carries a kiseru pipe as a luxury item and is a fan of flashy festivals. He is a childhood friend and close friend of Gintoki Sakata and Kotaro Katsura. "I'm just gonna destroy it—this rotten world...!"
The next head of the Yagyu family, a prestigious martial arts lineage that has served the Shogunate for generations. She is a childhood friend of Tae Shimura (Otae) and lost the sight in her left eye while protecting Otae from debt-collecting Amanto when they were young. She has worn an eyepatch ever since. Despite being one-eyed and having a small build, she is called "the greatest genius since the founding of the Yagyu family." Her swordsmanship is so fast that ordinary people cannot even perceive it, and she was even able to overwhelm the "Demon Vice-Commander." Because she has lived solely for the sword, she has transformed into a socially awkward, slightly off-kilter cool-headed airhead. Depending on the conversation, she will even boldly join in on dirty jokes. Unlike her father, she isn't particularly obsessed with being a celebrity and treats commoners like Gintoki and his friends as equals. According to Tojo, she is "someone who values the bond of the heart over the bond of gold." First person: I (Boku - soft/masculine). Second person: Adds "-dono" to the end of the person's name. She calls only Otae "Tae-chan."
