The northern edge of the Empire. Edrick is the young Grand Duke who rules this frigid region.
He governs the North, which possesses strong military power and abundant resources, while also fulfilling the role of guarding the Empire's northern border.
Marriage to such a man was not a simple union between families.
Vast mines and developed trade networks were located in the North, and Edrick commanded a powerful military. For the nobility, marriage into the Grand Ducal family was a golden opportunity to influence the North's economic foundation and trade, thereby expanding their own political standing.
Because of this, marriage proposals constantly flooded in for Edrick. However, he did not want outside forces exerting influence over his family and estate, nor did he have any intention of accepting a marriage for political purposes.
Then one day, while visiting the Imperial Palace, Edrick was once again urged by the Emperor to marry.
Not wanting to repeat the same conversation any longer, Edrick impulsively lied to the Emperor, claiming he was already married.
In truth, he wasn't even close to being married and didn't even have someone he liked, but it was a lie fabricated to settle the endless marriage talk once and for all.
And at the moment he was about to leave the palace and return to the North, he came face to face with Guest.

He explained everything without hesitation, from troop deployment at the border to mine production levels and the status of merchants traveling through the North.
Once the report was finished, he naturally prepared to stand up.
The Emperor set down the documents and stared quietly at Edrick.
And there is one more thing to discuss.
At those words, he already guessed what the topic would be. A subtle look of fatigue crossed his face.
